Many of us have recently received letters from UP managers. Each manager has a group of employees assigned to him or her. The manager will want to conduct one-on-one sessions with each employee under his/her charge. It works best if we can accommodate the manager by having these sessions at the beginning or at the end of a tour of duty as such a session may be considered commingled service under the Hours of Service Act (HOSA).

Commingled service during your tour of duty is not a problem. Being called in or making an appointment between tours of duty for a one-on-one session may entail activity to be reported under HOSA. If you are required to meet with a manger outside your normal tour of duty, please let your legislative representative and local chairman know.
